Verb + 着 (+ Object)
着 (zhe) after a verb marks a state that continues after the action: 穿着红衣服 = "wearing red clothes", 门开着 = "the door is open".
Difference with 在: 他在穿衣服 = he's getting dressed (action); 他穿着红衣服 = he's wearing red (state).
It's great for describing people: 戴着眼镜, 拿着包, 笑着说.
Negative: 没 + V + 着: 门没开着.
Examples
那个穿着白衬衫的人是我哥哥。
Nàge chuānzhe bái chènshān de rén shì wǒ gēge.The man in the white shirt is my older brother.
她戴着一副眼镜。
Tā dàizhe yí fù yǎnjìng.She's wearing glasses.
门开着,你进来吧。
Mén kāizhe, nǐ jìnlai ba.The door's open, come in.
他笑着说:“没问题!”
Tā xiàozhe shuō: “Méi wèntí!”He said with a smile: "No problem!"
Common mistakes
✗ 她戴眼镜着 → ✓ 她戴着眼镜 (着 right after the verb).
✗ 门不开着 → ✓ 门没开着.
