从 + A + 到 + B (+ Verb)
从 A 到 B marks the starting point and end point, in space or time: 从北京到上海 (from Beijing to Shanghai), 从九点到五点 (from nine to five).
The 从…到… phrase goes before the verb (or acts as the subject). It often pairs with 要 / 需要 + duration: 从这儿到机场要一个小时.
从 alone marks the origin: 我从法国来 (I come from France).
Examples
从北京到上海坐高铁要四个多小时。
Cóng Běijīng dào Shànghǎi zuò gāotiě yào sì ge duō xiǎoshí.Beijing to Shanghai takes a bit over four hours by high-speed train.
我从九点到五点上班。
Wǒ cóng jiǔ diǎn dào wǔ diǎn shàngbān.I work from nine to five.
从我家到公司不太远。
Cóng wǒ jiā dào gōngsī bú tài yuǎn.It's not very far from my place to the office.
我们从一号到七号放假。
Wǒmen cóng yī hào dào qī hào fàngjià.We're on holiday from the 1st to the 7th.
Common mistakes
English word order doesn't work: ✗ 我上班从九点到五点 → ✓ 我从九点到五点上班.
For distance use 离, not 从: ✗ 我家从公司很近 → ✓ 我家离公司很近.
