Chinese chains two verbs in logical order: you "take the train" THEN you "go": 坐火车去上海. So the means comes before the movement.
The verb depends on the vehicle: 坐 for anything you sit in as a passenger (坐飞机, 坐地铁, 坐出租车, 坐公共汽车), 骑 for what you straddle (骑自行车, 骑马), 开 for what you drive (开车). On foot: 走路去.
To ask: 你怎么去?(How are you getting there?)
