Subject (plural) + 互相 + Verb
互相 (hùxiāng) = "each other, mutually". The subject must be plural (or two people), and 互相 goes before the verb.
我们互相帮助 (we help each other), 他们互相看了一眼 (they glanced at each other).
No object pronoun is needed: ✗ 互相帮助我们 → ✓ 我们互相帮助.
Examples
两个老人互相看了看，都笑了。
Liǎng ge lǎorén hùxiāng kàn le kàn, dōu xiào le.The two old people looked at each other and both smiled.
邻居之间应该互相帮助。
Línjū zhījiān yīnggāi hùxiāng bāngzhù.Neighbours should help one another.
我们经常互相发短信。
Wǒmen jīngcháng hùxiāng fā duǎnxìn.We often text each other.
Common mistakes
✗ 我互相帮助他。 → a singular subject doesn't work. ✓ 我们互相帮助。
✗ 他们帮助互相。 → 互相 before the verb. ✓ 他们互相帮助。
