不是 A，还(是) B says that A is not enough: B has to be added. 不是读完了就可以了，还应该写一篇作文: "finishing the reading is not enough, you also have to write an essay". A is often followed by 就行了 / 就可以了 / 就完了 ("is enough"), and B is introduced by 还、还要、还得 or 还是要.
Do not mix it up with 不是……而是……: 不是 A 而是 B replaces A with B ("not A but B"), whereas 不是 A，还 B keeps A and asks for more. So never put 而是 before 还.
连 A 也/都 V，B 更 V extends 连……都 / 也 ("even") with a climax: if even A, the easiest or likeliest case, is like that, then B, the harder case, is all the more so. 连大人都做不到，孩子更做不到. The 更 of the second clause is indispensable, and the clause runs in the same direction as the first. In speech you also hear 更别说 / 更不用说 B 了; in formal style, 尚且……何况……
Both moulds are for arguing, in speech and in writing: meetings, debates, advice.
Examples
他不是请一天假就行了，还得把工作交给别人。
Tā bú shì qǐng yì tiān jià jiù xíng le, hái děi bǎ gōngzuò jiāo gěi biérén.It isn't enough for him to take a day off; he also has to hand his work over to someone else.
不是买了票就能进去，还得通过安检。
Bú shì mǎi le piào jiù néng jìnqù, hái děi tōngguò ānjiǎn.Buying a ticket is not enough to get in; you also have to go through security.
学汉语不是背会词语就行了，还是要多听多说。
Xué Hànyǔ bú shì bèi huì cíyǔ jiù xíng le, háishi yào duō tīng duō shuō.Learning Chinese is not just a matter of memorising words; you still need to listen and speak a lot.
连老师都不太清楚，学生更不知道了。
Lián lǎoshī dōu bú tài qīngchu, xuésheng gèng bù zhīdào le.Even the teacher isn't too sure, so the students know even less.
这条街连白天都很安静，晚上更没有一点声音。
Zhè tiáo jiē lián báitiān dōu hěn ānjìng, wǎnshang gèng méiyǒu yìdiǎn shēngyīn.This street is quiet even in the daytime, and at night there isn't a sound.
这个道理连小孩子都明白，大人更应该明白。
Zhège dàolǐ lián xiǎo háizi dōu míngbai, dàren gèng yīnggāi míngbai.Even a small child understands this, so an adult certainly should.
Common mistakes
✗ 不是读完了就可以了，而是还应该写一篇作文 → ✓ 不是读完了就可以了，还应该写一篇作文 (而是 would make B a replacement for A; here B is added to A).
✗ 连大人也做不到，孩子也做不到 → ✓ 连大人也做不到，孩子更做不到 (the second clause needs 更 to go one step further).
✗ 连大人也做不到，孩子更做得到 → ✓ 连大人也做不到，孩子更做不到 (the second clause runs the same way as the first, only stronger).
