一餐饭, 一串葡萄, 一滴水…: new measure words, and 一大杯茶

Seven more measure words, and a pattern that sizes the portion. 餐 counts meals (一餐饭), 串 anything that forms a bunch, string or skewer (一串葡萄, 一串钥匙), 滴 drops (一滴水), 副 pairs and matching sets (一副眼镜, 一副碗筷), 股 what spreads or flows, such as a smell, a current or a force (一股香味, 一股力量), 集 episodes of a series (一集电视剧) and 枝 stems and branches (一枝花). Like every measure word they stand between the number (or 这、那、每、几) and the noun.

Each keeps its own field, and the all-purpose 个 replaces them badly (✗ 一个香味). 餐 sees a meal as a moment of the day (一天三餐); in speech, for "a proper sit-down meal" you more often hear 一顿饭. 副 goes with what comes in twos or makes up a set (glasses, a place setting: 碗 and 筷子), and also with a facial expression (一副笑脸). 股 counts a mass that spreads: smell, heat, drive.

Number + adjective + measure word: with 大, 小 or 长, the adjective slips between the number and the measure word to give the size of the serving: 一大杯茶 (a big cup of tea), 一小碗汤 (a small bowl of soup), 一长串葡萄 (a long bunch of grapes). No 的 or 很 in this slot. If the adjective describes the noun itself, it keeps its usual place before the noun: 一杯热茶.
